New Growth Physical Therapy provides affirming treatment to our queer community including gender-affirming pelvic floor physical therapy treatment and post-surgical rehab after gender-affirming procedures. We foster an environment that celebrates all body types, sizes, and abilities. We believe that athleticism never looks just one way and that access to movement belongs to everyone. Serra Shelton, PT, DPT (she/her)

I am a queer cisgender white woman who earned my doctorate of physical therapy from the University of Washington School of Rehabilitation Medicine. I trained in pelvic floor physical therapy during and after graduate school, including advanced training from the Herman and Wallace Institute for Pelvic Health. I enjoy working with dance-related injuries and with members of the LGBTQIA+ community to address pelvic floor issues. I have additional clinical experience working with fibromyalgia and hypermobility/ Ehler Danlos syndrome.

I was born in California and moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2011, where I immediately fell in love with the rainy weather and beautiful moss here. I began my movement journey at age 12 with a Jazz dance class, and have not stopped dancing since. My current favorite dance styles are blues/fusion partner dancing and queer line dancing. Through dance, I have developed an acute awareness of postural balance that I integrate into my physical therapy practice.

I love unraveling the puzzle of what pain is trying to tell you so you can get back to doing the things you love. I enjoy the challenge of designing exercises to match your specific sport, hobby, or need, and especially love working with my queer community who are often under-served by the healthcare field.
